"But this too is true: Stories can save us."
in vietnam the us army would completely destroy villages and kill civilians, and say a few people there were part of the viet cong to justify it as a target and that the viet cong is the one endangering innocent people. sometimes they werent actually part of the viet cong, sometimes they were, and they would actually have “proof” of VC activities, because they had a lot of popular support among the masses and civilians would often help guerilla fighters. a lot of times the viet cong guerillas they murdered were average peasants who joined after the us bombed them. the us propaganda on this often would try to appeal to people in the north by portraying the viet cong as corrupt thugs stealing from the people and endangering them, acting like they needed to be liberated from the viet cong. despite official u.s. lies to the public that they were only targeting “communist terrorists”, it was very obvious to people in vietnam that this was an imperialist war against the vietnamese people as a whole and communists were the ones defending them.
literally millions of people were killed because for years, despite all evidence to show it, the united states refused to recognize the viet cong as a group supported by and made up of the vietnamese people

I’m starting a new donation post because the last one has stalled. I made a ko-fi to be more transparent and hopefully get financial help consistently. For this holiday season, I would love the gift of financial stability as a disabled black nursing student attempting to continue to survive.

Yeah no, I’m sure the country using tiktok thirst traps to legitimize it’s military has nothing nefarious to hide.
A casual reminder that while Israel is pumping out propaganda through tweets and tiktoks, they have simultaneously been killing journalists at an unprecedented rate. The IDF has killed over 25 (most likely an underestimate) Journalists since Oct 7th 2023 (Source).
Earlier this year, The Committee to Protect Journalists, did a great piece on Israel’s deadly pattern of killing Journalists and how no one has been held responsible.
By killing Journalists and churning out propaganda, Israel is hoping it can get away with genocide.

The Indonesian Hospital is the last medical complex operating in North Gaza and is currently undergoing Israeli occupation and attacks. It is surrounded by tanks, and they are treating anyone who moves as a target- this is exactly how the atrocities committed at Al-Shifa hospital began

succession was truly a show , brave enough to ask, “what if we gathered some of the greatest living theater actors onto a yacht and had them call each other ‘cromulent fuckcrustables’ while fighting over the fate of fox news?” i miss it every day.

The terms for releasing hostages held by Hamas were clear from the start. They said quite early on that they would release all the hostages in return for the 6000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons. [Link]
Since then, deals have been discussed which are way more favourable to Israel, and now there’s talk of releasing 50 hostages in return for a 3-day ceasefire and some Palestinian women and children being released. [Link]
And we could get into the stories of Hamas offering to release hostages which Israel refused [link], or hostages saying how well they’ve been treated when do they get released [link], or the strong likelihood that Israeli bombs have directly killed hostages [link], but the first two lines of this post are all you really need to know: Israel always had the means to secure the safety of the hostages. They just love murdering Palestinian children too much to give up their weak excuse for doing so.

Israel and Israeli settlers aren’t the way they are because of Judaism. That’s how settler colonialism and settlers are. Even people who are political radicals, who have experienced oppression as an ethnicity themselves, etc. can become twisted into believing and doing horrible things as Settlers. Look at the Irish in Ireland vs Irish American settlers politically. Australia ended up with a disproportionate amount of human rights and workers rights activists in its initial groups of settlers (as convicts), it lead to nothing in the face of joining settler colonialism. Colonialism routinely makes monsters of the colonizers.
Scapegoating Judaism just lets other settler colonies off the hook for similar brutalities.
